Track Name: Easy Coast
I heard you spent some time out in the mountains of the west
and ancient cities in the south helped you get me off your chest
and i heard you found a job waiting tables in Belize
i'm not sure why you'd quite, i can't say what made you leave
but now you hear all the same interests from every single guy you meet
and everyone wants kids and drinks their whisky neat
but anything is better if it's the opposite of me
i ain't saying you were wrong, i'm just saying it was

easier than waking up in love, but never sure that's what you want
always wondering if i'm keeping you from something
and knowing what it's like to be the best and having lost your audience
makes you a little deviant
and it's something you forgot to keep discrete
so now i'm packing up your things
to move across the country
three thousand miles away, i'm not asking you to stay
i'm just saying it'd be easy

i heard that where you went seemed like the party never stopped
everyone was in the moment, but you never felt more lost
than when you were walking down that aisle
in a dress your mom picked out
on a perfect autumn day, you wished you hadn't been around
and someday when you're sitting with your toes dug in the sand
you'll think back for just a minute and you'll wonder how i am
and honestly i hope that you found everything you need
i ain't saying you were wrong, i'm just saying it was

easier than waking up in love, but never sure that's what you want
always wondering if i'm keeping you from something
and knowing what it's like to be the best and having lost your audience
makes you a little deviant
and it's something you forgot to keep discrete
so now i'm packing up your things
to move across the country
three thousand miles away, i'm not asking you to stay
i'm just saying it'd be easy
Track Name: Drug Dealer
when that town by the sea fell they were just waiting to descend
like buzzards on a rotten piece of meat
and what they sold you was a lie, but you bought it anyways
'cause when you're starving you'll do anything to eat
and they say i grew up wrong, but it was all i ever knew
and i swear i gave it everything i had
but then you turned eighteen and headed to Toronto with a dream
i stood there watching how you never once looked back

but even the drug dealers here would tell you times are tough
the hard living catches up with you til you say enough's enough
and if you fall along the way, well darling promise me
that if you're gonna lie to get something then lie to get something you need

when the company pulled out, your mother swore she'd find a way
that woman's faith was always oh so strong
but the hard times surely came, we medicated them away
lying on your floor we lost it to some song
and your dad said he'd handle it, he'd cut out that evil's root
as he sunk into his chair with one more drink
and i'm still living here and living with the words you told to me
despite it all you know i still care what you think

even the drug the dealers here would tell you times are tough
the hard living catches up with you til you say enough's enough
and if you fall along the way, well darling promise me
that if you're gonna lie to get something then lie to get something you need

if you're gonna lie to get something
then lie to get something you need
Track Name: 400 North
every time i see the sign that separates the county line
i wonder why i'm going back this way
and i don't want to celebrate the sadness written on your face
just wanted you to know that i'm ok
and every inch a country mile a stolen kiss a hidden smile
is desperate on a lonely winter night
i could call to see if you're around but i was driving through this town
and noticed that you just turned off the light

and i see
that there's a part of you that ends when you're with me
i understand
and i know
that there was wisdom in the night we let it go
i'll start again
and take 400 north til i know who i am

every lake i float through makes me wonder how i know you
makes me think i never really knew at all
the stars forget their silence, they start sparking in the sky
and i sleep better now, my troubles seem so small
if this is an illusion, just one big naive delusion
i created when my soul was feeling soft
then i'll chalk it up to absence, i'll pay for a little magic
and thank my God for letting me stay lost

and i see
that there's a part of you that ends when you're with me
i understand
and i know
that there was wisdom in the night we let it go
i'll start again
and take 400 north til i know who i am
Track Name: Your Old Name
i lie to myself more than anyone
i guess i'm just used to the way it sounds
and i make up most of my problems
and you hate that about me you say that it brings you down

you say that i bring you down

then you say that i'm not who you used to know
when you fell in love back in '84
when i had a band, you still liked disco
and when you wanted to dance you just pulled me on the floor

you just pulled me on the floor

now we're too late
too old
too many layers came between us
i'll go
spare you the shame
when they ask 'bout you
i'll say that you're well
and the last i heard you were going by your old name

i wanted you then more than anyone
guess you don't remember it like i do
when i lied for us and hurt someone
threw it away just so i could be with you

just so i could be with you

so where is the girl from the shitty clubs
with her hair pulled back, biting her lip
when you asked how i knew it was love
holding out while i was begging for it

yea i was begging for it..

now we're too late
too old
too many layers came between us
i'll go
spare you the shame
when they ask 'bout you
i'll say that you're well
and the last i heard you were going by your old name
Track Name: Eugenia
Eugenia,
I haven't seen you in years
but everything is still here where i left it
and i wonder
how the falls can keep running
where is all of this coming from?

let's go somewhere and talk
let's do something
this town's all boarded up
no one else stuck it through
i came here with gold on my mind
she said, 'if you had the wealth of kings it'd mean everything to you"

Eugenia,
i guess you heard something changed.
now we're polite just like strangers on a train
it's never mutual
someone always speaks up
someone's always the first to fall out of love

let's go somewhere and talk
let's do something
this town's all boarded up
no one else stuck it through
i came here with gold on my mind
she said, "if you had the wealth of kings, it'd mean everything to you"

Eugenia,
with your sweet little lies
where there's smoke there is always a fire

let's go somewhere and talk
let's do something
this town's all boarded up
no one else stuck it through
i came here with gold on my mind
she said, "if you had the wealth of kings, it'd mean everything to you..
if you had the wealth of kings, i wouldn't mean a thing to you."
